Privacy & visitor statistics

This website uses random browser identifiers to estimate visitors, sessions and page views. Browser storage keeps these identifiers; the identifiers recorded on the server change daily. Detailed visit events are retained for 90 days, and an aggregate daily report is emailed to the site owner.

Article identifiers are included to distinguish readership of different articles. Other URL query parameters are excluded. These counts estimate distinct browsers, not identified people, and known automated visitors are ignored.

Articles and comments use Supabase. Approved contributions display the name supplied by their author. External links follow the destination service’s policies.

Article email subscriptions

Registered readers can choose to receive new article emails. We store your account identifier, confirmed email address, article-link language, subscription status and delivery history. Brevo processes the email address and notification content to deliver these messages. Subscriptions are optional and are not enabled automatically when you register. You can unsubscribe from your account or any article email.
